What we do
Sonanta Flamenca is a Flamenco instrumental group. Our programme is built on solo guitar compositions by David Shepherd with percussion from Tony Shepherd (Cajon) & Veena Shepherd (Tabla & Palmas).Our performances contain a blend of traditional & contemporary Flamenco influences enjoyed by aficionados of music and Spanish culture. Latin rhythms and exciting Flamenco harmonies create a tasteful ambience, especially for those wanting something a little different.David Shepherd has over 2 decades of performing experience. He made his London, South Bank debut in 1991 with guitarist and author Marcos and has since worked with some of Spain’s leading Flamenco dancers. His compositions have been favourably acknowledged by the Spanish poet and Flamenco expert, Felix Grande.Tony Shepherd has provided David with percussive support for many years and has an intimate knowledge of all his music. Sonanta Flamenca's other member is Veena Shepherd. She brings her many skills to our programme. In fact, Veena also designed our website!
